Michigan Prisoner Reentry Initiative Conference
MPRI ConferenceDetroit Public TV traveled to Lansing on September 19, 2005, to take part in the Michigan Prisoner Reentry Initiative (MPRI) Conference. Over 850 thinkers, funders and practitioners of reentry policy gathered for the all-day conference to discuss implementation of the MPRI Model and discover ways to help ex-offenders reintegrate back into society.
From the Conference
"Every formerly incarcerated person, every incarcerated person, is a person with a family... Reentry is about making our communities full again."
Robert Crane, President, JEHT Foundation
"It comes down to putting people back out on the street who are lower risk than they were when they went in."
Senator Alan Cropsey
"We need help understanding that these are people who are still members of our society and members of our state."
Mark Murray, President, Grand Valley State University
