An unusual clearing in the forest of the Central African Republic, the Dzanga Bai is a place where elephants come together in great numbers. A higher density of forest elephants live in the Bai's region than anywhere else in Africa. One researcher thinks she has discovered what draws the elephants to this mysterious spot.

On the plains of Tanzania's Serengeti, spring rains draw tiny gladiators from deep underground. Navigating by scent, fresh pats of dung become the arena for millions of dung beetles to fight for their share. To the victor go the spoils: food for later, and, for the males, a gift to present to the waiting females nearby.
